Our 25-year Commitment to

Sustainability

Echo Valley is a small, eco-luxury ranch thoughtfully designed to inspire connection with the restorative elements of our natural surroundings. Discerning soft-adventure seekers are instinctively drawn to our respectful, sustainable, and comfortable lifestyle. Living in harmony with the land, we lovingly grow, raise, harvest, forage and preserve much of the cuisine served at the ranch, the balance of which is sourced within BC.

We have undergone a comprehensive assessment to achieve Sustainable Tourism Gold Certified. The process includes a one-on-one review of our business practices with an assessor to see how we’re doing against GreenStep’s Sustainable Tourism criteria, which is Global Sustainable Tourism Council – Recognized.

We have taken the Sustainable Tourism 2030 Pledge to demonstrate our commitment to improving the sustainability performance of our business between now and 2030. Tourism has to take full account of its current and future economic, social and environmental impacts to be sustainable, and we are committed to measuring and improving our sustainability performance.

We’re committed to

  • Being active and environmentally-conscious stewards of our land
  • Constantly making environmental choices in day-to-day operations
  • Improving ways to contribute to a carbon-neutral operation
  • Practicing zero-waste in our food acquisition and production
Energy & Water Conservation
  • Water-efficient toilets, showerheads and faucets
  • Energy-efficient lighting throughout the ranch
  • Two self-sustaining geothermal systems that heat major installations
  • Supplemental energy that is generated hydraulically or with propane to deliver ultra low C02 emissions
  • Water sourced from on-site naturally fed springs
  • Electric car charging stations (Tesla and Universal)
Waste Management
  • Bio-degradable sanitation system recycling waste fluids as organic fertilizers
  • Ranch-wide recycling/re-use program, including linen and towel reuse
  • No-go plastic bottle zone – guests provided with reusable metal water bottles, water stations located throughout the property
  • Ranch raised grass-fed beef treated with care and respect just outside our front door
  • Ranch kitchen garden that uses organic fertilizers and companion plantings which act as natural insect repellents
Environmental & Social Choices

We believe in community, convinced that all cultures can live and learn from each other in harmony. In true Canadian fashion, we make every effort to work alongside various groups, as well as the local Indigenous peoples whose territory lies at our door.

We provide an opportunity for our guests to fully immerse themselves in nature and have introduced new activities for an even deeper connection. Survival Spirit teaches which plants are edible, how to build and shelter, and how to find water. Our Horse Harmony program teaches the power of trust with an animal and the meaningful connection that results from it.
